On January 3, Phil Galfond’s brainchild product, Run It Once Poker (RIO), closed down after nearly three years of operation.
But, it was far from over as Galfond announced a new chapter in an apt blog post titled “Running it Twice” and revealed his company’s plans to bring its innovative online poker platform to the burgeoning US online poker market.
Two months later, its path to enter the regulated US market was made public after Rush Street Interactive (RSI), a leading iGaming operator in the US, revealed that it had acquired Galfond’s Run It Once Poker for $5.8 million and will use its online poker platform to integrate into its existing gaming vertical.
To understand more about RIO’s new venture into the regulated US market and the plans to incorporate it into its new parent company’s platform, PRO spoke with Jason Senti, Head of Run It Once Poker. PRO also discussed the challenges his company faced while operating in the international market.
