Online poker giant PokerStars will undergo major server maintenance today, July 30, as part of the operator’s effort to upgrade the platform’s infrastructure and network.

While PokerStars typically conducts monthly maintenance lasting around five to six hours, which is standard among online poker rooms, today’s lengthy downtime is rare. Starting at 9 AM UTC, it is expected to impact services for at least 12 hours and could extend up to 24 hours before normal services resume, according to the operator. A message in the client estimates the downtime lasting between 13 and 20 hours.

All services will be affected, including PokerStars’ desktop, mobile, and website clients, as well as sister verticals such as casino and sports. The disruption will impact all licenses, including all licensed jurisdictions operating under the global player pool, Southern European segregated markets spanning France, Portugal, Spain, Italy, and even Ontario, Canada.

The only markets excluded from this server maintenance are the US ones in New Jersey, Michigan, and Pennsylvania. These servers are hosted in their respective US states, whereas the server upgraded today is located in the Isle of Man, PokerStars’ hometown.

“The experience of our players and ensuring they have a safe and reliable place to play is our priority,” Graeme Fowler, Managing Director of Platform Techonlogy at Flutter, stated in a recent PokerStars Blog post. “We’re always looking to make improvements to our infrastructure and networks with this in mind.”
